Your Pastor’s Heart for July

Dear Brothers and Sister in Christ;
                I cannot believe it has already been a year. Last year this time Jackie and we were finishing our move. We were all facing uncertainty as what our pandemic life would look like, would the church survive, would we survive? We were forced to pause, reflect, and refocus during one of the hardest years of our lives.

Over the course of the last year, there has not been one single meeting, movement, or
moment that God has been absent. Through the entirety of this past year, God has been
with us in an almost year-long journey through a time of isolation and change unlike any we
have ever known. My approach to it has simply been trusting God, loving one another, and offering Christ at every opportunity.

God has been and is still with us. We have survived! Scripture has been proven. Some of my guiding scripture verses have been:
Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Psalm 145: 18-19 The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. …
Isaiah 12:2 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

These truths are still evident and still at work in our world. I thank God for His love and care in this difficult year. I pray that I have been an asset to this body of believers. I thank you for how you have persevered and been patient with me this first year. I thank you for your prayers and your encouragement.
 With the beginning of this second year, as we come out of survival pandemic mode, “We need YOU to be US. Get in the game!” The meetings, movements, and moments continue. Vacation Bible School, Community Inn, Soul Food, Sunday School, school projects and the return to normal worship activities are upon us, and we encourage everyone to be as involved as your faith leads you to be.

It has been a first year like no other for me because of all we have faced together, especially the challenges. I am grateful for being sent to this community to serve at Friendship and Pine Grove United Methodist churches.

As we stand on the threshold of our second year together, my prayer is that we begin to thrive in the work of building Jesus’ Reign and bringing hope, healing, joy, and salvation to our community. Join with Jesus as we make this year a year of victory and vitality.

Peace and Blessings,

Pastor Ron
