Dear 2023 Local Church Leaders,
Happy New Year! I don’t know about you, but 2023 came way too fast! My name is Kathy Odell, and I am the Lay Leader for the Uwharrie District. I look forward to connecting/reconnecting with you in the coming year.
Perhaps you’ve agreed to serve as Chairperson or member of a committee such as Staff/Pastor-Parish Relations, Finance, Worship, or Outreach. Or, maybe you’ve accepted a role as a leader in Children or Youth Ministry, or within your church’s United Women of Faith, United Methodist Men, or in one of the many behind-the-scenes roles that make ministry in your local church possible. I am excited to invite you to join me in attending the 2023 WNCC Winter Leadership Training (WLT) online conference which is taking place Monday, January 23rd through Thursday, January 26th. A great variety of training sessions are being offered, some during the evening and some during the day, each lasting between 60-90 minutes. And, registration is free!
No matter how you are serving, I believe you will find the 2023 WLT event helpful. Not only will you be able to hear from some wonderful leaders in our Conference (and beyond!), you’ll have the opportunity to connect with other local church leaders from across our district and conference to share ideas and learn from each other.
The line-up of presenters for 2023 is outstanding, and I can’t wait to connect with you in some of the sessions! I encourage you to take a look at the schedule and session descriptions and register so we can experience this time of growth and learning together.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the event or if you attend sessions and would like to have a conversation afterward.
Thank you for serving your local church! I am excited to be in ministry with you!
Many blessings for this new year,
Kathy, kodell@wnccumc.org
P.S. Please help spread the word to others in your church who you think would be interested in attending! While we especially hope those who are serving in leadership roles will attend, the training is open to everyone.
The 2023 Winter Leadership Training is designed for and open to all local church leaders including lay leaders, council members, volunteers, and all who serve and lead.
Connect virtually with other leaders across the conference and learn about roles, best practices, and new ideas for ministry. When you register, choose the topics in each breakout session where you most relate and would like to ask questions and participate in conversation. There are sessions for:
- P/SPRC
- Administrative Council
- Finance
- Lay Leader
- Trustees
- Communication
- Children and Youth
- Wesleyan Theology
- Outreach and Building Relationships

**UMM Community Breakfast This Saturday!
On Saturday, January 28th the Pine Grove United Methodist Men will be hosting a Community Breakfast from 7:30 am to 10:00 am in Fellowship Hall. Volunteers are needed from 6:00 am to 11:00 am to help with cooking, serving and clean-up. Please contact Roddy Tomberlin, Sam Lambert, or Pastor Ron if you are able to help.
***Sweet Heart Dance on Saturday, February 4th!
Pine Grove is having their Annual Sweet Heart Dance on Saturday, February 4th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for all the local residents with developmental disabilities. We are expecting as many as 200 folks to attend! We need lots of help with this wonderful mission.
Stanly Community College will be doing their hair and make-up for some of them for free!
We plan to decorate and move tables about 4:00 pm and The Dance will start at 6:00 pm and run to 8:00 pm.
If you are able to help, set up, serve, clean up, or just be there for support, please come! I know if you come you will receive a blessing just being there!
New Roof is on the Fellowship Hall and is Paid For!
Thanks to all those who donated to the cost of putting the new roof on Fellowship Hall!
God is Good! All the Time!!
We need YOUR Help! Do YOU have any clerical skills? Can YOU copy and paste in WORD? Can YOU print, copy, and fold paper?
We are trying to bring back the Bulletins! They will need to be done each week. If you have any clerical skills and a little time, would you serve in this way? (If we can get two people to help with this it would make it easier and you could work on it together or even take turns.)
Please let Pastor Ron know if you are interested.
Every Week:
Sunday Service In-person and on Zoom or Facebook!
You can come to in-person worship service or watch us through zoom or on Facebook on Sunday mornings at 11:00 am.
Daily Worship videos on Facebook- Monday through Friday:
Please join Pastor Ron for 5 minutes of Daily Worship on our Facebook page. They are available after 7:00 AM each morning. Share and Like our page to get notifications.
Thank you for all you do!
Please stay safe!
